Editorial Guidelines
These guidelines explain how calculator logic and supporting educational content are scoped, checked, corrected, and maintained.
Editorial ownership and bylines
Tools and articles are published by Watt and Ampere Calculator. We use an organization byline because individual contributor profiles and credentials have not been established for publication. Any future personal byline must identify a real contributor and use qualifications that can be substantiated.
Content creation process
- Define the calculation scope. Identify whether the material concerns DC, single-phase AC, or balanced three-phase AC and state the applicable assumptions.
- Write the relationship clearly. Define power, voltage, current, power factor, phase, and unit conventions before presenting a result.
- Implement and compare. Keep the displayed formula aligned with the calculation engine and check worked examples independently.
- Test boundary cases. Verify valid calculation paths and reject zero, negative, missing, or out-of-range inputs where a meaningful electrical result cannot be produced.
- State the safety boundary. Distinguish mathematical conversion from electrical design, installation, conductor sizing, breaker sizing, and code compliance.
Fact-checking approach
Calculator explanations are checked against the formulas implemented in the site and against independently calculated examples. Automated tests cover DC, single-phase AC, balanced three-phase AC, reverse calculations, numerical symmetry, and invalid inputs.
When content discusses equipment specifications, regulations, safety requirements, or electrical codes beyond the calculator’s arithmetic, primary and authoritative sources should be preferred and the relevant jurisdiction or equipment context should be identified. The site does not treat a general calculator result as installation approval.
Corrections and update policy
We review content when a formula, example, interface, or stated assumption changes, and when a reader reports a potential error. A material correction should update the affected calculator or article rather than being hidden in a separate notice.
To request a correction, use the Contact page and include the page URL, the statement or result in question, the inputs used, and the correction you believe is needed. Reports are assessed against the calculation logic and the scope stated on the page.
Use of dates and review claims
Publication or review dates are shown only when they are tracked for the relevant page. We do not automatically label every deployment as an editorial review, and we do not invent historical experience, review counts, certifications, or update dates.
